What we commit to, and what we don’t claim. The fastest way to lose a producer is to imply an independence you don’t hold, so this page is written to be held against us.
“If the producer does not win, the system does not work.”
The Farmers Door operating principle
Version 1.0 · August 2026. If we change it, the version and date change with it, and anyone using Farmers Door at the time gets told.
These are in force today. They are not aspirations, and they are not conditional on which plan you are on.
You own the records you put into Farmers Door and everything derived from them. We are a processor of that data, never its owner. You can export the whole lot — records, documents, evidence register, scorecards — in a readable format, at any time, without asking us and without a fee. If you leave, it goes with you, and we delete our copies on request.
Disclosure defaults to closed. Nothing about your operation is visible to a buyer, a shopper, an auditor or anyone else until you switch it on, field by field and audience by audience. Access is granted for a defined party, a defined purpose and a defined period, and you can revoke it. When you withdraw something, it stops being visible immediately — not hidden behind a flag, but genuinely unreachable.
Not to buyers, not to processors, not to insurers, not to banks, not to researchers, not in aggregate, not de-identified. We do not trade against you, and we do not run a position in the commodities you sell. Our business is the software you pay for, not the data you put in it.
Where a figure comes from your own records rather than a third party, the page says so. We grade the strength of every piece of evidence — what it is, who issued it, how current it is — and we show that grade rather than flattening everything into one confident-looking number.
If coverage is too sparse, or an integrity check fails, Farmers Door publishes no score at all rather than a misleading one. A blank is more use to you than a figure that can’t be defended, and more use to a buyer than one they’ll later find out was hollow.
Farmers Door sits over the systems and certifications you already hold. We are not asking you to farm to a new standard, leave a program, or change anything in the yard.
Your data is never pooled or anonymised without your agreement, and your data is portable: export it at any time, and if you leave, it leaves with you.
This is the part most companies put in the fine print. It belongs here, because if you only read one section it should be this one.
Farmers Door runs its own assessment. We do not hold accreditation to certify anyone against anything, and nothing we produce is a certificate. When we say a record is verified, we mean we can show you the document it came from and when — not that an accredited third party has audited it.
We designed the FD Index, we run it, and we are paid by the producers it scores. That is a real conflict and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. Our answer is to make the method public, show the evidence behind every number, and pursue independent accreditation. Until that is in place, judge the score by the evidence under it, not by our word.
We do not promise that a score gets you a better price, a contract, or access to a market. What we can do is make your evidence legible to the people who decide those things. Where a market has not demonstrated a premium, we will not imply one.
Any sale is agreed and settled between you and your buyer. Farmers Door states no prices, holds no funds, takes no commission on the trade, and is not a party to it. What you list, what you ask and what you accept are yours.
Not a buyer-side tool
Not a data broker
Not a carbon credit scheme
Not another form for someone else’s benefit
Two badges, used consistently across everything we publish. Confirmed means it is true today. Pathway means it is intended and not yet in place. We do not use a third badge, and nothing on the pathway is described as though it were confirmed.
The FD Index scores eight domains from evidence you supply, and every figure names its source and its date.
FD Index is at version 0.1 and under review. Indicator definitions and domain weightings are provisional and will change. Scores produced now are not a settled grade.
Our assurance pathway is designed with SGS — a methodology review under agreed procedures. It is not a certificate, and no assurance opinion has been issued.
ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation is on the roadmap. Until it is in place we will keep saying, in these words, that it isn’t.
Today you bring your records in yourself. Direct connections to NLIS, processor systems and the programs you already report to are on the roadmap, not in the product.
In design, not operating. Where it eventually generates a commercial premium, that premium is distributed back to the producers who supplied it — but no premium has been demonstrated yet, and we will not imply one.
We name a partner only where the relationship is real and confirmed, and we say exactly what it is. No logo walls, and no logo without written permission.
If anything on Farmers Door overstates what we can evidence, tell us and we will correct it and say what changed. If you think a figure about your operation is wrong, tell us and we will show you the record it came from. Either way, email hello@farmersdoor.com.au and a person will answer.
